Fall RVing in southeastern Ontario

Camping doesn’t always have to involve driving a far distance to pitch a tent.

RVing allows you to experience the beauty of Ontario’s fall colours with more of the comforts of home.

In southeastern Ontario, there are many great RVing opportunities nearby. You can find your adventure by RV at several different parks close to city centres and along major travel routes.

Sharbot Lake Provincial Park

Sharbot Lake is located on two beautiful, clear lakes that offer great swimming, canoeing, boating and fishing

For campers, a newly renovated comfort station is located in Maple Grove Campground with flush toilets, showers, sinks and barrier-free access. Laundry facilities are also located at the comfort station in Maple Grove Campground.

If you’re looking for something to do at Sharbot Lake, follow the Discovery Trail along the ridge of land that divides Black Lake and Sharbot Lake. It’ll take you through stands of maple, oak and birch to see a dramatic change in topography. From the top of the ridge you can see a beautiful view of both lakes.

Ferris Provincial Park

Take in beautiful fall colours from Ferris’ spectacular lookout over Ranney Falls!

The park is conveniently located in Northumberland County. This unspoiled region is full of great eateries, rich cultural experiences, entertainment, beaches, and great outdoor adventures. And that makes Ferris the perfect basecamp to explore all it all.

The Bedrock Loop has electrical campsites available for RVs, and is just a short walk to the playground and day-use picnic areas.

Three comfort stations are conveniently located in Ferris’ campgrounds. The comfort station in the Valleyview Loop features showers.

Lake St. Peter Provincial Park

A favourite with RVers, this small gem boasts many spacious campsites.

Many sites at Lake St. Peter are waterfront, and can accommodate large trailers. All sites are close to drinking water taps and vault toilets, while a centrally-located comfort station has washrooms, showers and laundry facilities.

Lake St. Peter’s mixed forest is lovely in the fall, but the park also makes a great homebase for day-tripping to nearby Silent Lake. You can enjoy free for day-use at this park with your camping permit.

Murphys Point Provincial Park

Located on Big Rideau Lake, part of the historic Rideau Waterway, Murphys Point offers a variety of outdoor activities and great fall colour opportunities.

Did you know that the park is also home to the Silver Queen Mine? Pre-register for a mine tour at the Murphys Point gatehouse or by calling 613-267-5060.

Campers with larger trailers will find the pull-through sites, many equipped with electrical hook-ups in Hogg Bay Campground. Ash Hill Campground is well-suited for smaller trailers (18-25 ft.) and offers some electrical sites. Fallows Campground is ideal for tents and small trailers.

Amenities such as water taps, comfort stations, and laundry facilities are close by. A Park Store, beaches, over 10 km of hiking trails, and boat launch are only a short distance away.

Voyageur Provincial Park

Looking to visit a park that has good canoeing and boating opportunities? Add Voyageur to your list!

Situated along the Ottawa River with two boat launches, there are ample opportunities for canoeing at Voyageur.

Since Voyageur is located on the reservoir of the Carillon Dam, the Ottawa River portion of the park is wide and more lake-like in nature. With no rapids or white-water, canoeing can be a safe and leisurely activity. The park has many small bays and inlets where visitors can explore and view wildlife.

Voyageur offers car camping in three campgrounds: Champlain, Iroquois and Portage. Each offers campsites with electrical hookups. Champlain and Portage Campgrounds are better suited for visitors with larger camping units. Water taps, comfort stations, and laundry facilities are available in each campground.
