The holiday season is just around the corner! Imagine spending it surrounded by snow, with the sound of nature at your doorstep.

We’ve got lots of cabins, cottages, and yurts available throughout December, including many weekend openings.

Algonquin Provincial Park (Mew Lake) — yurts (6)

Yurt in winter

Each yurt is equipped with a table and chairs, as well as two sets of futon bunk beds (sleeps up to six). The yurt has electrical heat, fluorescent lighting, and one electrical outlet. Outside, yurt sites are equipped with a picnic table and fire pit.

 Arrowhead Provincial Park – cabins (10)

Just outside Huntsville, 2 hours from Toronto, 1 hour from North Bay

Winter Camp Cabin, Arrowhead

These rustic one-room cabins sleep five, and include a dining table and chairs. Amenities include a kitchenette with a microwave, mini-fridge, coffeemaker and counter space. Outside you will find a gas barbecue and picnic table. A propane/electric fireplace provides additional comfort.

Killarney Provincial Park – yurts (6), cabins (2)

Coast of Georgian Bay, 1.25 hours from Sudbury, 4 hours from Toronto

Killarney yurt

Killarney’s six yurts are located in the George Lake Campground in their own site away from other campers. A short walk of 70 m to 200 m will take you to your accommodation from the parking lot. Each yurt sleeps six and has electric heat. The yurts are located nearby a vault toilet.

Cabins (2)

Killarney cabin

The camp cabin is a rustic one-room cabin with wood interior and a screened-in front porch. The cabin sleeps five on a queen bed and double/single bunk bed. The cabin features a kitchenette with a microwave, mini fridge, coffeemaker, kettle and counter space. There is a dining table and chairs for inside meals. Outside you will find a gas barbecue and picnic table. A propane fireplace provides a cozy temperature and atmosphere inside.

MacGregor Point Provincial Park – yurts (16)

Shore of Lake Huron, 3 hours from Toronto, 2.5 hours from London

Each yurt at MacGregor sleeps six people on two sets of double/single bunk beds. Inside the yurt campers will also find a table and chairs, lighting, electric heat and an electrical outlet.

Outside visitors are provided with a firepit, kitchen shelter, picnic tables, and propane barbecue with side burner. A comfort station with drinking water, flush toilets and showers is available year round.

Shores of Lake Huron, 1 hour from London, 3 hours from Toronto

Yurts

These eight-sided tent-like structures are heated, furnished and available year-round. Inside each yurt, visitors will find two bunkbeds to accommodate six people, a table and four chairs, electric lighting and a heater for cool weather camping. In addition, you will find a gas barbecue outside for cooking, a firepit and a picnic table on the site. A comfort station with flush toilets, showers and laundry facilities is located nearby.

The cabin features a kitchenette with a microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker and counter space. There is a dining table and chairs for inside meals. Outside you will find a gas barbecue and picnic table. A propane/electric fireplace provides additional comfort.

Sitting on a wooden platform, the tent features rustic log furniture and two queen beds (sleeps four) outfitted with comfort mattresses. A kitchenette includes a mini fridge, coffee maker and counter space. Outside you’ll find a gas barbecue for cooking.

Quetico Provincial Park – rustic cabins (3)

2.5 hours from Thunder Bay

Stay in one of these cabins and enjoy a waterfront view, quick access to hiking trails and the fresh northern Ontario air. Outhouses and flush toilets are just a short walk away.

This one-and-a-half-story cottage includes a fully equipped kitchen, satellite TV, wood fireplace, barbecue and propane. Cottage sleeps six. Bedding and towels are supplied.

Maplerest Heritage House

Nearby to park trails, beaches and day-use facilities, this four-bedroom Victorian home is furnished with antiques. Equipped with everything you need for a luxurious Sandbanks vacation.

Silent Lake Provincial Park – yurts (8), cabins (10)

2.5 hours from Toronto / 3 hours from Ottawa

Spend the day skiing, snowshoeing or ice fishing, then return to a heated home base (yurts 5, 9, 16 and 38 include woodstoves, while the others use electric heat). Yurts sleep six, with a firepit and propane barbecue outside for cooking.

 Sleeping Giant Provincial Park – cottages (5)

Shores of Lake Superior, 1.25 hours from Thunder Bay

These barrier-free cabins are located in the park on the shores of Marie Louise Lake. Each cabin has three bedrooms, a washroom with large shower, a fully equipped modern kitchen, propane fireplace, and heated sun porch. Pots, pans, cups, mugs, dishes, cutlery, kettle, coffee maker, pillows and linens are provided. One campfire pit and one picnic table are located outside of each cabin.

While there are several weekend opportunities available, you’ll find the best selection Sundays-Thursdays.
