Northeastern Ontario
Pancake Bay Provincial Park
This yurt is equipped with two sets of futon bunk beds and sleeps up to six. Inside, campers will find a table and chairs, mini fridge, shelving unit, and a broom and dustpan. Outside, yurt sites are equipped with a propane barbecue, picnic table and fire pit. Just a short walk to the Caribbean-blue water of Lake Superior.
Pancake Bay is 1 hour from Sault Ste Marie.
Wakami Lake Provincial Park
This waterfront campsite is nestled in the forest on the shoreline of Wakami Lake. Discover pitcher plants and sundew on the park’s hiking trails, or rent a kayak and explore by water.
Did you know that Wakami Lake is one of Ontario Parks’ undiscovered fishing hotspots?
Wakami Lake is 4 hours from Sault Ste Marie, and 5 hours from Sudbury.
Northwestern Ontario
Rushing River Provincial Park
Rushing River is a favourite family camping destination with beaches, playgrounds, hiking trails and endless opportunities for exploring.
Rushing River is 2.5 hours from Winnipeg.
Kakabeka Falls Provincial Park
Kakabeka Falls is the second highest waterfall in Ontario with year-round access for viewing. The park offers excellent views of the falls and gorge from the boardwalk that wraps around the top of the falls.
Kakabeka Falls is 30 minutes from Thunder Bay.
Near North
Grundy Lake Provincial Park
Countless inland lakes offer endless canoeing and kayaking adventures (as well as top-notch fishing!), which are great for beginners. Canoe and kayak rentals are available nearby.
Grundy Lake is 3.5 hours from Toronto or 1 hour from Sudbury.
Oastler Lake Provincial Park
This hidden gem has wonderful views all around the campground! The Boyne River flows through the park, and is minutes from Parry Sound and Georgian Bay. If you are looking for hiking trails Killbear Provincial Park is moments away up the road.
Oastler Lake is just over 2 hours from both Toronto and Sudbury.
Southeastern Ontario
Bass Lake Provincial Park
At Bass Lake, you will find a wonderful sandy beach, large campsites, and beautiful sunsets. Amenities such as gas stations, groceries, restaurants and shopping are only a short drive away, along with attractions such as Saint Marie among the Hurons, Wye Marsh, and Springwater Provincial Park.
Bass Lake is 2 hours from Toronto and 30 minutes from Barrie.
Sandbanks Provincial Park
Nestled in the shores of Lake Ontario, giant sand dunes and golden beaches form two of the largest freshwater baymouth sandbars in the world here.
Efforts to stabilize shifting sands disturbed by farming have revived distinctive dune plants such as bluets, butterfly weed and sand spurge. Trails feature dune stairs to protect this delicate vegetation.
Sandbanks is 2.5 hours from Toronto and 3 hours from Ottawa.
Southwestern Ontario
Pinery Provincial Park
This beautiful park offers 10 km of sand beach on the shores of mighty Lake Huron. Sunsets here are ranked by National Geographic as among the “Top 10 Best in the World!” Rent a canoe, hydro bike, paddleboat or kayak to explore the Old Ausable Channel – a provincially significant wetland.
Pinery is 1 hour from London or Sarnia.
Craigleith Provincial Park
At Craigleith, you can enjoy any number of water activities, like kite-flying, hiking, and just relaxing on the shore.
This premium site puts you steps from Georgian Bay. This area is radio-free and has one comfort station and the day-use area which is located at the east end.
Craigleith is 1 hour from Barrie and just over 2 hours from Toronto.
