Campsite vacancy highlights: October 1-3

With beautiful weather and stunning fall colours on the way, there couldn’t be a better weekend to enjoy fall in a provincial park.

Plenty of RV-friendly electrical sites are available around the province! Why not try somewhere new?

Northeastern Ontario

Kettle Lakes Provincial Park

Site 135, The Island Lake Campground. Tent camping or RV up to 32 ft. *electrical*

Kettle Lakes is part of the great expanse of boreal forest that covers northern Ontario, and offers great hiking, birding, and fishing opportunities.

The park has 14 km of bike trails that wind through the forest and lead you to Slab Lake where you can have a swim before continuing your journey.

Kettle Lakes is 4 hours north of Sudbury.

Pancake Bay Provincial Park

Pancake Bay boasts more than 3 km of beautiful sand beach and Caribbean blue waters.

Enjoy a panoramic view of Lake Superior from the Edmund Fitzgerald Lookout hiking trail. The park is located along the historic paddling route of the voyageurs, and is only a short drive from many regional attractions.

Pancake Bay is 1 hour from Sault Ste Marie.

Northwestern Ontario

Kakabeka Falls Provincial Park.

Kakabeka Falls is the second highest waterfall in Ontario with year-round access for viewing. Enjoy excellent views of the falls and gorge from the boardwalk that wraps around the top.

Book a campsite and use it as a basecamp for exploring the area!

Kakabeka Falls is 30 minutes from Thunder Bay.

Rushing River Provincial Park

Rushing River is a favourite family camping destination with beaches, playgrounds, hiking trails, and endless opportunities for exploring.

Rushing River is 2.5 hours from Winnipeg.

Near North

Mikisew Provincial Park

Site 462, Campground 4. Tent camping or RVs up to 32 ft

The fall fun is endless at Mikisew!

There are three sand beaches for swimming located along Eagle Lake in Mikisew. The lake is also great for boating, paddling, and fishing.

While you’re there, check out their 18-hole disc golf course!

Mikisew is just over 2 hours away from Barrie and 2.5 hours from Sudbury. 

Restoule Provincial Park

Site 218, Putts Point Campground. Tent camping or RVs over 32 ft

Restoule is a fall colours paradise!

Paddle along the base of the Stormy Lake Bluffs, or hike to the top for a view of the local landscape.

More than 90 species of birds frequent the waters and forests of Restoule, including Peregrine Falcons, Bald Eagles, and Osprey.

Restoule is 1 hour south of North Bay, and 2 hours north of Orillia.

Southeastern Ontario

Balsam Lake Provincial Park 

Site 349, Ash and Fir Campground. Tent camping or RVs up to 18 ft. *electrical*

Balsam Lake campers love the Lookout Trail (2.6 km). Walk through eskers and kames formed over 10,000 years ago from the Wisconsin Glacier, and take in a panoramic view of the surrounding area.

Balsam Lake is 2 hours from Toronto, and 45 minutes from Orillia.

Sharbot Lake Provincial Park

The park is located on two beautiful, clear lakes that offer great canoeing, boating, and fishing. Enjoy all of the park amenities within easy walking distance of each other — great for young families.

Sharbot Lake is 1 hour from Kingston, 1.5 hours from Ottawa, and 3.5 hours from Montreal.

Southwestern Ontario

Earl Rowe Provincial Park

Watch spawning salmon at the fish ladder (a space for fish to leap over obstacles) or explore one of the many trails in the park.

Grab your bike and discover the park on two wheels! The 11 km Rainbow Run Trail loops around wetlands, campgrounds, lakes, forest, and open-field ecosystems.

Earl Rowe is only 1.5 hours from Toronto or 45 minutes from Barrie.

Rondeau Provincial Park

Eleven beach accesses lead to 11 km of beautiful sandy beaches along the Lake Erie side of the Rondeau peninsula. The park also offers six hiking trails from which to explore this world-renowned birding destination.

Experienced birders can catch a glimpse of songbirds and warblers as they stop off at the park before migrating south to their overwintering grounds.

Rondeau is 3 hours from Toronto and 1.5 hours from London.
