Northeastern Ontario
Ivanhoe Lake Provincial Park
**Waterfront site alert!**
Campers who know Ivanhoe Lake well come for the boating and fishing. There’s good Walleye, Northern Pike and Yellow Perch fishing to be done by boat or canoe.
Much of the park’s shore is sand beach, with expansive views west across the lake.
Ivanhoe Lake is 2.5 hours from Timmins, and 5.5 hours from Sudbury.
René Brunelle Provincial Park
This campsite is just steps away from René Brunelle’s playground, making it the perfect site for children!
René Brunelle offers excellent paddling opportunities on Remi Lake, especially exploring the park’s undeveloped north shore. The park rents canoes and kayaks.
This is an ecological region known as the boreal forest, often called the songbird nursery because so many nest here each summer. The four sandy beaches, shallow, clear water, and buoyed areas are perfect for family swimming.
René Brunelle is less than 2 hours from Timmins.
Northwestern Ontario
Blue Lake Provincial Park
Renowned for its crystal clear waters and long sandy beach, Blue Lake is an outstanding destination for all types of water activities.
Take a canoe out, or spend the afternoon fishing for Walleye, Muskie, Pike, Lake Trout, and Smallmouth Bass.
Blue Lake is 3.5 hours from Winnipeg, and 4.5 hours from Thunder Bay.
Pancake Bay Provincial Park
Pancake Bay boasts more than 3 km of beautiful sand beach and Caribbean blue waters.
Enjoy a panoramic view of Lake Superior from the Edmund Fitzgerald Lookout hiking trail. The park is located along the historic paddling route of the voyageurs, and is only a short drive from many regional attractions.
Pancake Bay is 1 hour from Sault Ste Marie.
Near North
Halfway Lake Provincial Park
Halfway Lake Provincial Park is an excellent family camping park with great opportunities to take in fall colours.
The park’s extensive trail system through the rugged southern edge of the Boreal Forest has something for everyone!
Halfway Lake is 1 hour north of Sudbury.
Mikisew Provincial Park
The fall fun is endless at Mikisew!
There are three sand beaches for swimming located along Eagle Lake in Mikisew. The lake is also great for boating, paddling and fishing.
While you’re there, check out their 18-hole disc golf course!
Mikisew is just over 2 hours away from Barrie and 2.5 hours from Sudbury.
Southeastern Ontario
Voyageur Provincial Park
Voyageur’s varied habitats make it a great location to view a diverse selection of bird species.
With many small bays and inlets, visitors can enjoy exploring and viewing wildlife from the water by canoe or kayak.
Voyageur is just over an hour away from both Ottawa and Montreal.
Ferris Provincial Park
At Ferris, you’ll find over 10 km of trails that take you through forest and riverside settings. The Ranney Falls Trail follows the original roadway to the park before looping back along the river.
The suspension bridge offers a panoramic view of the Trent River Gorge and — of course — the trail’s namesake Ranney Falls.

Ferris is 1.5 hours from Kingston and just over 2 hours from Toronto.
Southwestern Ontario
Earl Rowe Provincial Park
Watch spawning salmon at the fish ladder (a space for fish to leap over obstacles) or explore one of the many trails in the park.
Grab your bike and discover the park on two wheels! The 11 km Rainbow Run Trail loops around wetlands, campgrounds, lakes, forest and open-field ecosystems.
Earl Rowe is only 1.5 hours from Toronto or 45 minutes from Barrie.
Rondeau Provincial Park
Eleven beach accesses lead to 11 km of beautiful sandy beaches along the Lake Erie side of the Rondeau peninsula. The park also offers six hiking trails from which to explore this world-renowned birding destination.
Experienced birders can catch a glimpse of songbirds and warblers as they stop off at the park before migrating south to their overwintering grounds.
Rondeau is 3 hours from Toronto and 1.5 hours from London.
