Winter fun in southeastern Ontario

Just because snowflakes are flying doesn’t mean you have to wait ’til spring to explore our parks again!

These southeastern parks provide plenty of wonderful close-to-home winter activities.

Darlington Provincial Park

45 minutes from Toronto, 15 minutes from Oshawa

Darlington is open year-round for your winter adventures! Bring your snowshoes or cross-country skis and enjoy a wonderland experience close to home.

Sibbald Point Provincial Park

Just over 1 hour from Toronto

Open all year for day use, bring your snowshoes or cross-country skis and enjoy the calming quiet of Sibbald Point!

Lake Simcoe has excellent ice fishing for perch and whitefish.

NEW THIS YEAR! Beginning December 23, you can visit Sibbald Point for an evening journey lit only by fire and the stars. Learn more on their events page.

Frontenac Provincial Park

45 minutes from Kingston, 2 hours from Ottawa

Camp overnight in Frontenac’s backcountry, or stay for the day!

This park offers an 8 km out-and-back track-set cross-country ski trail, and plenty of more rugged trails that offer a bigger challenge for experienced skiers. For those who prefer snowshoeing, rentals are available.

Murphys Point Provincial Park

1.25 hours from Kingston or Ottawa

Twenty-one kilometres of trails are available for skiing at Murphys Point, including 7 km for skate-skiing, 14 km for classic skiing, and an additional 8 km for backcountry skiing.

Two warm-up shelters will keep you comfortable on colder days. Their Main Chalet is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and toilet facilities are located at the two winter parking lots (main and Lally).

Silent Lake Provincial Park

2.5 hours from Toronto, 3 hours from Ottawa

Skier

Silent Lake offers more than 40 km of cross-country trails and plenty of snowshoeing opportunities. Snowshoe rentals are also available!

Ideal for families, each trail is colour-coded for easy recognition. A warm-up shelter is available to rest and recharge.

Book a winter campsite or roofed accommodation to experience all the park has to offer!

Voyageur Provincial Park

Just over an hour away from both Ottawa and Montreal

Voyageur maintains 10 km of groomed cross-country ski trails.

Arranged in 3 km, 7 km, and 10 km loops, these trails are ideal for beginner and intermediate skiers.

Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park

2.5 hours from Toronto, 1 hour from Peterborough

Try winter camping in our second-largest park in southern Ontario!

Backcountry camping is available all year long if you want to get away from it all and immerse yourself in the wilderness.

Presqu’ile Provincial Park

2 hours from Toronto, 1.5 hours from Kingston

Open year-round for day use, Presqu’ile offers 12 km of trails. Bring your snowshoes or cross-country skis and enjoy all this unique park has to offer.

To help guarantee access for day use, our visitors are now able to plan their trips ahead of time by obtaining daily vehicle permit in advance of their trip.
